Honestly Helen

written by Lynne Brooks copyright 2006

Honestly Helen! Helen heard all her life
Honestly Helen what were you thinking
When you said what you said?
What you were thinking? Were you using your head?

What were you thinking when you said that to her?
Didn’t you think of the wrath it could incur?

Didn’t you think it might make her mad?
Didn’t you think it might turn out bad?

Honestly, Helen replied in her straight forward way
I thought the truth was the best thing to say.

The truth! Do you think that the truth is what she wants to hear?
Honestly Helen, don’t you think the truth will bring her to tears?

You are probably right Helen frankly agreed
The truth might bring her to tears – which might be just what she needs.

Honestly Helen, do you think it’s your place to say
To tell her what happened, what went on that day?

That’s a good question Helen simply replied
She’s my best friend so it’s not my place to lie.
